With the help of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the police department of Wake Forest, North Carolina, United States recently arrested six men as part of an undercover sting operation. The department also partnered with the offices of the Wake County, North Carolina district attorney and the Cleveland County, North Carolina sheriff.

From December 5-6, 2023, undercover agents posed as juveniles and traffickers during the operation, which targeted child sex predators and human traffickers. Meetings were set up in various locations throughout Wake Forest after the suspects solicited the agents for sex or some other purpose.

When the suspects showed up, they were taken into custody. Here are their names, ages, residences and charges:

  1. Amadeo Vargas-Varela, 49, of Raleigh, North Carolina was charged with soliciting prostitution from a minor.
  2. Anwar Antuan Overby, 40, of Durham, Durham County, North Carolina was charged with attempted first-degree statutory rape
  3. Calixto Gomez-Carreno, 43, of Garner, Wake County, North Carolina was charged with soliciting prostitution from a minor.
  4. Esteban Javier Alvarez-Medina, 47, of Fuquay-Varina, Wake County, North Carolina was charged with soliciting prostitution from a minor.
  5. Frank Ferlo Jr., 60, of Raleigh, North Carolina was charged with solicitation by computer or certain other electronic devices to commit an unlawful sex act.
  6. Jason Malone Lartigue, 42, of Rolesville, Wake County, North Carolina was charged with soliciting prostitution from a minor.
