Brooklyn, New York’s Jacob Sperber, Rachel Sperber taken to Maimonides Medical Center

Jacob Sperber and his wife Rachel Mintza Sperber of Borough Park, Brooklyn, New York, United States. They were both 75.

Jacob is Manis Sperber and Sarah Sperber’s son. Born in Gmina Lipinki, Gorlice County, Lesser Poland Voivodeship, Poland, Manis died in New York City, New York in 1999 at age 88.

Rachel is Avrohom Duvid Lowinger and Shaindel Lowinger’s daughter. Shaindel passed away in 1992 and Avrohom died in 1993.

Jacob and Rachel lived in a tight-knit Hasidic community in Borough Park. Recently, the couple took their son, 46, back in to help his battles with mental illness, according their family and friends.

Just after 5:00 p.m. on January 20, 2024, police officers responded to reports of a domestic assault in Jacob and Rachel’s residence. The officers found the couple with multiple stab wounds inside the residence while their son barricaded himself inside.

Both Jacob and Rachel were taken to Maimonides Medical Center in Borough Park where they were pronounced dead. Their son was taken into custody and has yet to be charged.
